We went to New York for Scott's work. He was sent there for training and sadly had to spend Monday through Friday from 9-5 in class. So I slept in, did homework (some) and wandered around the city alone during the week. Every night we went out and got as much done as possible. We ate a lot of yummy pizza. Ray's is known for being in the movie Iron Man. It is pretty good! We also went to the Hershey Factory and bought the largest Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in the world. They were almost as big as my head and DELICIOUS. And we went to a lot of fun restaurants. I was sad tho, I am a big fan of the TV show Kitchen Nightmares and Hells Kitchen. I love Chef Ramsay. Kayla and I watch them every now and then and we saw an episode with the Restaurant called Dillons. Well it is in New York! So on our last day I begged Scott to find the restaurant so we could eat there. We found it- now called Purnimas. (Watch the episode on Hulu!) And it was shut down. Sad day. But still cool to see!
We also saw famous people! I didn't post all the pictures we have, because there are hundreds. But these are the 2 coolest run ins we had. We went to a few plays and one of them starred Christopher Walken. Afterwards he came out to sign posters. We got his signature and I snapped this awesome photo. We also saw Abigail Breslin (from Signs and Little Miss Sunshine) in a play. She is adorable and I got her autograph in the Play Bill and this cute pic. Love her. Other famous people we saw include Sam Rockwell, Anthony something- from The Hurt Locker, they guy that played Gomez in the original TV series of the Adams Family, and Cameron from the TV series House. Pretty fun!
As I said, we went to some plays: Wicked, A Behanding in Spokane, and The Miracle Worker. We really loved seeing all the shows and totally caught the bug. I wish we had more time and money, we wanted to see EVERY show. It is such a blast. These are of the Ed Sullivan theatre- we saw David Letterman and got an "audience upgrade". We were put on the FRONT row. It was so awesome and exciting. I wore that lovely bright green rain coat and we were easily spotted on TV. Watch it! (It's the episode with Jessica Simpson) We also saw Wicked at the Gershwin. LOVED it. It was so fun and the stage was decked out. We really enjoyed it.
We did a lot of sight seeing as well. We saw Grand Central Station, the Chrysler Building, Times Square (our hotel was on Times Square), Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum, the LDS Temple, and the Statue of Liberty. I also went to a lot of stores: Tiffany's, Saks, Macy's and FAO Schwartz. Really cool things to see and stores to wander in. We missed Ground Zero and I was very sad about that and also the Museum of Natural History. We just ran out of time.
These pics are the view from the top of the Empire State Building. It is so windy and cold up there. We had great timing tho- got there for the sunset!
We also ventured to the Statue of Liberty. Totally cool. However it was pouring rain and winds were 50 mph. (If any of you saw the news that weekend, it was all sorts of flooding over on the east coast that weekend. We were in some of those storms) So we didn't last very long and we didn't get any great pics. Here is one of us all bundled up and trying to get a picture with the statue. Ha ha.
We had a great time in the Big Apple!
You two look like you had such a blast! Yay!
